Dr. Cheng-Meng Chen, born in 1985 in Zoucheng, Shandong Province, now serves as associate research fellow and group leader in the Institute of Coal Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICC, CAS). He is the member of Youth Innovation Promotion Association CAS, Chinese Society of Particuology, China Innovation Alliance of the Graphene Industry, the expert of IEC TC113 and SAC/TC279 Technical Committee, etc. He obtained bachelor degree and doctorate degree from mineral processing major of China University of Mining and Technology in 2006 and materials science major of ICC,CAS in 2012 respectively. In 2010-2011, he studied at the Fritz Haber Institute in the Max Planck Society of Germany. Since 2012, Dr. Chen is committed to the research and development of advanced carbon materials and energy storage devices. Dr. Chen has been in charge of more than 20 projects from governments and companies. He has published more than 118 SCI papers with over 4700 citations. Dr. Chen held 18 granted patents, published 1 book at Springer, and directed 6 international and national standards. He won First Prize of Natural Science in Shanxi Province, First Prize of China Industry-University-Research Collaboration Innovation Achievement Award, First Prize of Tianjin Natural Science Awards, Hou Debang Youth Award for Chemical Science and Technology, Young Particuology Award of Chinese Society of Particuology, and ‘Morning Star’ Excellent Talent of Beijing Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. In 2017, Dr. Chen is proud to be recognized as a member of The Innovators Under 35 China 2017 by MIT Technology Review.
